McDonald’s Guatemala and Enel Green Power: sustainability tastes better

McDonald’s Guatemala has turned to Enel Green Power and its hydroelectric power plants to provide 100% renewable energy to its chain of restaurants in Guatemala. The agreement will avoid the emission of 16,420 metric tons of CO2 each year.

Partnership

A solid commitment to sustainability in the company’s restaurants in Guatemala

McDonald’s is a company that is committed to the environment: its restaurants apply energy efficiency, water stewardship and recycling programs. Furthermore, 100% of their paper packaging is FSC certified, meaning that the raw materials come from renewable sources, protecting flora and fauna.

As part of the company’s global environmental policy, McDonald’s Guatemala, through the specially created trading entity Cova Energy, has signed a two-year agreement with Enel Green Power Guatemala (EGPG) for the supply of 17.52 GWh per year of sustainable energy, originating from various hydroelectric plants present in the Central American country.
